Personal Injury Lawyer Michael SmitiuchMichael D. Smitiuch 

Mike obtained his law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario. Mike also holds an Honours BA in Political Science from McMaster University.

His practice is dedicated exclusively to representing individuals and family members of those who have been seriously injured or killed.

Mike has lectured and written extensively for various legal conferences and publications, including the The Advocates’ Quarterly and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. Mike is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Peter Cho

Peter Cho is an Associate Lawyer at Smitiuch Injury Law. After articling with the firm, he was Called to the Bar on June 16, 2011. He will be working directly for Michael Smitiuch on personal injury matters.

Peter obtained his law degree (J.D.) from the Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. He also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto. During his three years at law school, he was a writer for the Osgoode Hall Newspaper, an Executive of the Korean Law Students Association, involved in the Osgoode Hall Law Union, and a member of Pro Bono Students Canada. Furthermore, he was a caseworker for Legal Aid Ontario; he volunteered at Parkdale and Rexdale Community Legal Services in Toronto, within the Social Assistance Violence and Health division.

Peter is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Korean Canadian Lawyers Association.

Sergio Grillone - Counsel to Smitiuch Injury Law

Sergio obtained his law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds a Master of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & History both from the University of Toronto.

Sergio has assisted lead counsel with aboriginal claims issues at the Federal Court of Canada. He has represented plaintiffs involved in motor vehicle collisions, statutory accident benefit claims, slip and fall matters, wrongful death actions and fire loss claims.

Sergio is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Canadian Bar Association, Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association, Canadian Italian Advocate Society and the Thomas More Lawyers Guild.

 

Chris J. Jackson

Chris Jackson is the Accident Benefits Manager at Smitiuch Injury Law. Mr. Jackson is responsible for managing all Accident Benefit matters related to a case. He provides direction to junior Law Clerks within the firm and is responsible for working with rehabilitation professionals to insure our clients receive the best treatments available to assist in their recovery. He is also responsible for communication with the Managing Partner and other departments within the firm. Before joining Smitiuch Injury Law Chris was a Senior Accident Benefits Examiner and ADR Coordinator with a large insurance company.  He brings a wealth of experience to the firm including senior roles as a Rehabilitation Consultant, Director of Client Services (Plaintiff) and Vice-President at a Disability Management firm.

Mr. Jackson holds a Master of Divinity degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) degree both from King's University College at The University of Western Ontario. He was awarded a Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) Medal for twelve years of honourable service in the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserves).  He is a Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) and has qualified and testified in Arbitration and Court as an expert in Vocational Rehabilitation and Future Care Costs.

Arthur P. Ryan

Arthur P. Ryan is the Litigation Coordinator at Smitiuch Injury Law. Mr. Ryan has extensive expertise in serious slip and fall incidents. He is responsible for case management, client liaison, trial and mediation preparation. In addition to his primary responsibilities within the Tort department, he is also a valuable resource to the Accident & Benefits and Marketing departments.

Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from Ryerson University.

Keith W. Smitiuch

Keith W. Smitiuch is the Operations Manager at Smitiuch Injury Law. He brings a wealth of skill in process planning, project management and information technology. Mr. Smitiuch is a liaison with clients and assists them throughout their case. He is also responsible for the firm's business development initiatives and the operations and administration of the Toronto and Brantford offices.

Mr. Smitiuch holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from McMaster University.

Douglas G. Summerhayes

Douglas G. Summerhayes is the in-house Investigator at Smitiuch Injury Law. "Gregg" joins the firm having served with the Ontario Provincial Police for 33 years, including the last 15 years as a Detective Constable. As one of the few law firms in Ontario who employ an in-house Investigator, Smitiuch Injury Law is uniquely positioned to assist clients with the prompt investigation into the facts and circumstances of an accident or incident that they have been involved. In addition to conducting investigations, Gregg will act as an ambassador for the firm in its many community initiatives.

Throughout Gregg’s lengthy career with the O.P.P., he worked on many high profile cases, including the Victoria Stafford investigation and the London corridor truck shootings. He has been recognized for his hard work and was the recipient of a number of certificates and awards, including the O.P.P. Accolade Award (2006) for “officer’s dedication to duty”, the Regional Commanders Recognition Award (2008) for “exemplary performance in an investigation” and the O.P.P. Accolade Award (2011) for “outstanding team performance in an investigation”.
