Michael D. Smitiuch 

Mike obtained his law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario. Mike also holds an Honours BA in Political Science from McMaster University.

His practice is dedicated exclusively to representing individuals and family members of those who have been seriously injured or killed.

Mike has lectured and written extensively for various legal conferences and publications, including the The Advocates’ Quarterly and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. Mike is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Sergio Grillone - Counsel to Smitiuch Injury Law

Sergio obtained his law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds a Master of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & History both from the University of Toronto.

Sergio has assisted lead counsel with aboriginal claims issues at the Federal Court of Canada. He has represented plaintiffs involved in motor vehicle collisions, statutory accident benefit claims, slip and fall matters, wrongful death actions and fire loss claims.

Sergio is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Canadian Bar Association, Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association, Canadian Italian Advocate Society and the Thomas More Lawyers Guild.

Lara Chiaverina

Lara Chiaverina is the Accident Benefits Supervisor at Smitiuch Injury Law. Ms. Chiaverina is responsible for the day to day operations of the department, supervising the department staff and preparing and participating in mediations and arbitrations at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. She brings almost 10 years of experience, leadership and organizational skills to Smitiuch Injury Law. Ms. Chiaverina built her career working in the Accident Benefits and Litigation departments of numerous well-known mid-size Toronto law firms. Since joining Smitiuch Injury Law she has held progressively more senior positions, most recently as Senior Accident Benefits Clerk.

Ms. Chiaverina is an Ontario Licensed Paralegal (The Law Society of Upper Canada) and holds a Legal Assistant Certificate from George Brown College.

Samantha J. Scott

Samantha Scott is the Senior Litigation Law Clerk at Smitiuch Injury Law. Ms. Scott and her department are responsible for supporting all litigation cases at Smitiuch Injury Law. Her major responsibilities include document management, client communications and preparing for mediations and court trials. Since joining the firm, Ms. Scott has held progressively more senior positions. Prior to joining Smitiuch Injury Law Ms. Scott worked in the Litigation, Corporate and Real Estate law departments of a large Toronto law firm.

Ms. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Western Ontario and a Law Clerk Diploma from Humber College. She is a member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.

Arthur P. Ryan

Arthur P. Ryan is the Litigation Coordinator at Smitiuch Injury Law. Mr. Ryan has extensive expertise in serious slip and fall incidents. He is responsible for case management, client liaison, trial and mediation preparation. In addition to his primary responsibilities within the Tort department, he is also a valuable resource to the Accident & Benefits and Marketing departments.

Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from Ryerson University.

Keith W. Smitiuch

Keith W. Smitiuch is the Operations Manager at Smitiuch Injury Law. He brings a wealth of skill in process planning, project management and information technology. Mr. Smitiuch is a liaison with clients and assists them throughout their case. He is also responsible for the firm's business development initiatives and the operations and administration of the Toronto and Brantford offices.

Mr. Smitiuch holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from McMaster University.
